Lynn O'Connell

Executive Director

Lynn came to CORE in January 2008, bringing more than 20 years of nonprofit experience. Most recently, she served as Executive Director of the Physician Assistant Foundation, where she directed grant programs, established a new grants management system and launched a national healthcare adherence project. She is on the adjunct faculty at Catholic University of America and The Graduate School, where she teaches nonprofit management courses. Outside of the nonprofit sector, she has served as a Foreign Service Officer and a business instructor. She is a past Fulbright Scholar and holds a Masters in Philanthropy from Indiana University and a Certificate in Nonprofit Management from Duke University.

Julia Wright

Development Director

Julia served as chairman of the Computer CORE Board of Directors from 2007-2008. She has recently retired from a career with the American Red Cross, where she served as Executive Director of the Alexandria Chapter and as Director of Development of the Arlington Chapter. She is a graduate of Wittenberg University and holds an MBA in Accounting from Pittsburg State University. Julia resides in Alexandria and is active in the Kiwanis Club of Arlington. She also volunteers her time as a trustee of the Gamma Phi Beta Foundation.

Tim Howard

Tim Howard

Admissions and Resources Manager

Tim came to CORE in July 2011. He also works at Northern Virginia Community College Alexandria in the Liberal Arts Division. In his free time, he offers private lessons for ESL students and emcees events throughout Virginia. In the past, Tim has worked as a Radio DJ, TV News Reporter, K-1 MMA Stadium Announcer, and as a Cultural Guide for Foreign Embassy Personnel. He has an Associate degree in Broadcasting and a Bachelor’s in Communications, and is currently working on a degree related to Information Technology and Computer Programming. He has never worked in the nonprofit industry before, but does have an interest in trade and regional development missions between the USA and Brazil.

Holly Seibold

Volunteer Manager

Holly started at CORE part-time in June 2011. She has worked at several nonprofits, including Big Brothers Big Sisters and American Association of Children’s Residential Centers. Holly is a certified elementary school teacher and has taught 4th and 6th grades in Fairfax County Public Schools. She currently teaches computers to K-8 students and coordinates the technology program for teachers and staff at an area private school. Holly holds a Master’s in Elementary Education from George Washington University and a Bachelor’s in the interdisciplinary study of Communications, Law, Economics and Government from American University.  She is currently pursuing a Certificate of Interpretation in American Sign Language through Northern Virginia Community College.

Katherine Stikkers

Katherine Stikkers

Office Manager

Katherine joined CORE in 2009. Prior to that, she worked in local government in Arlington County and in Pittsburgh, PA, where her favorite projects dealt with solid waste management and sewage treatment. Katherine holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from the State University of New York at Buffalo and earned her Master of Science in Public Policy and Management from Carnegie Mellon University. She spent time in Louisiana as a VISTA volunteer with Habitat for Humanity and has volunteered extensively with Ten Thousand Villages, a fair trade organization that benefits artisans in developing countries.

Richard Campbell

Classroom Coordinator

Richard is a senior at Edison High School. He is interested in information technology and has taken several Career and Technical Education classes and received numerous industry certifications. He plans to attend James Madison University and major in Information Analysis. He is also interested in personal finance, learning budgeting techniques and various expenditures, and anticipates becoming a network security engineer or analyst.

Bryan Powell

Classroom Coordinator

Bryan is a senior at South County Secondary School in Lorton. He has a passion for anything computer related. Bryan plans on majoring in computer science at a school like UT in Austin or Virginia Tech, and possibly taking the career direction of video game development. His current hobbies include creating games, tinkering with computer hardware, and playing tennis.
