The Project Management workshop will give the student/project manager the tools to utilize project management efficiently in their workplace. Though the role is complex, project management helps teams to complete projects in systematic ways that will ensure efficient and economical results. The course will explore the ways project management can be applied to a number of projects regardless of the project’s size and length. Participants will ultimately draft a plan that can be used in their daily work

INSTRUCTOR: Charles Prince is a Site Manager of Jumpstart at Howard University in the Office of the Dean in School of Communications. In this role, he spends a significant portion of his time using project management tools as a daily organizational method. Charles has been in the field of education teaching K-12 and Adult Learners for the last 6 years.

discover strategies to expand and diversify income streams through the teaching profession

INSTRUCTOR: Lynn O’Connell taught her first class 21 years ago (a 4-hour grantwriting class) to help her get over a fear of public speaking. Now, she offers more than 15 courses designed for professionals in the nonprofit or small business worlds, ranging from ‘starting a NPO’ to ‘government bids and contracts.’ Other classes she has taught include circus skills, skydiving, cooking, ESL, interrogation techniques, and acting for attorneys. She considers it an honor to have worked with adult learners as they have learned to do things they always wanted to do – or things they never even dreamed possible for themselves.

CORE Appreciates Volunteers from Dimension Data

Employees from Dimension Data volunteered in our Fairfax class this week. They did a presentation on their company along with a discussion on hiring trends in the industry. They also spent several hours with the students reviewing and critiquing their resumes and discussing how to search for jobs on line. CORE and the students appreciate their taking time out of their busy schedule to provide this valuable service.

Come to Computer CORE Board Open House, Wednesday, October 17, 7-9pm and celebrate with board members who were named as finalists for this year’s Center for Nonprofit Advancement’s Board Leadership Award.

It will be a fun-filled evening with opportunity to meet CORE board members, volunteers, and supporters. Bring any questions you may have about CORE, volunteering, or joining a board.
