Build Your Skill: Retail and Sales

Are you interested in making $30,000 – $60,000 a year in retail management or as a professional sales person? Would you like to work in a department store or chain store, in food services, hotels, retail banking, or auto sales? This workshop is for you!

In this 1 day, 3 hour workshop, students will learn about:

Build Your Skill: Grantwriting

As competition gets tougher for grants, specific skills are needed to write a successful proposal. This workshop serves as a basic introduction to teach attendees the techniques needed to develop a project and write a proposal that will get funded.

Participants will:

  • Discover the 6 common reasons why grantmakers decline funding a proposal
  • Identify 10 strategies that will make your proposal stand out above others
  • Learn the 7 basic parts of a proposal and how to write these parts.

Dates: Saturday, July 13, 10:00am -1:00pm

Instructor: Lynn O’Connell, CORE’s Executive Director, has been working with nonprofits and writing grant requests since the 1980s.  She holds a Master’s in Philanthropy and serves on the adjunct faculty at both Catholic University and GWU. Lynn received a national educator’s award for curriculum development in 2009 for her graduate grantwriting class curriculum.  On the other side of the spectrum, her 2-hour grantwriting workshop received a Goldstar ‘crowd-pleaser award’ in 2010 for positive reviews by attendees.
