Build Your Skill: Grantwriting
As competition gets tougher for grants, specific skills are needed to write a successful proposal. This workshop serves as a basic introduction to teach attendees the techniques needed to develop a project and write a proposal that will get funded.
Participants will:
Discover the 6 common reasons why grantmakers decline funding a proposal
Identify 10 strategies that will make your proposal stand out above others
Learn the 7 basic parts of a proposal and how to write these parts.

Instructor: Lynn O’Connell, CORE’s Executive Director, has been working with nonprofits and writing grant requests since the 1980s. She holds a Master’s in Philanthropy and serves on the adjunct faculty at both Catholic University and GWU. Lynn received a national educator’s award for curriculum development in 2009 for her graduate grantwriting class curriculum. On the other side of the spectrum, her 2-hour grantwriting workshop received a Goldstar ‘crowd-pleaser award’ in 2010 for positive reviews by attendees.
