Gain an Edge in Holiday Retail Hiring – And More!

If you are interested in earning $30,000 – $60,000 a year in retail management or as a professional sales person, CORE has a workshop for you!

On Saturday, December 3 at 1 pm, join us to find out more about careers in  department stores, chain stores, food services, retail banking, auto sales, and other service industries.  Students will learn about:

  • Types of positions in retail and typical career paths
  • How product knowledge and understanding your store’s policies lead to success
  • Real world examples of the benefits of commission sales
  • History of retail and how it’s changed because of the Internet
  • How it’s still all about the customer

Employers in the retail, food service management, auto sales, real estate, funeral home, and bank industries are scheduled to participate in this workshop – a great opportunity to get a foot in the door for a new job!

Registration for the workshop is $35 and must be received by Wednesday, November 23.  The class will take place at CORE’s main offices, 3846 King Street in Alexandria.

Get Ready for Give To The Max Day – November 9!

Give to the Max Day is a one-day fundraising event on November 9, 2011 that will unite local Maryland, Virginia and Washington, DC communities to support nonprofits serving the area. The goal is to get thousands of local residents to support their favorite regional charity, raising millions in donations and grants in just 24 hours!

CORE is participating in this event, and we’ve set a goal of raising $2,000 from our supporters to help provide low-income adults with the opportunity to learn new skills to get better jobs and lift their families out of poverty.  Won’t you join us?  Visit our page on razoo.com on November 9 – become a “fan,” tell us what CORE has meant to you – and please make a donation toward our goal.  Check out the awards page:  prizes galore (i.e., additional funds to support our program) for the top fundraisers!

Follow the event’s progress on Twitter using #Give2Max.
