Refurbished Computers & Low-Cost Devices
Computer CORE is a licensed third-party Microsoft refurbisher, with volunteers refurbishing almost 1,000 computers a year. To be eligible to receive a home computer or laptop, you must be:
- A resident of Virginia, Washington, DC, or Maryland
- A Computer CORE student who attends (or has recently attended) a class
- Aware that home computers are not guaranteed by Computer CORE, but available while supplies last.
- Wild Tech, Washington, DC area
- Human-IT
- PCs for People
- Amazon: Try searching refurbished laptops with Windows 11, 8 to 16 GB RAM
- Walmart: Search for refurbished options, which could start around $130

Northstar Digital Literacy
Northstar is a comprehensive program that defines, assesses, and teaches the essential computer and internet skills needed for daily life, employment, and higher education. It features self-guided online modules and assessments that cover essential computer skills, software applications like Microsoft Office and Google Docs, and everyday technology uses. Individuals who pass proctored assessments at approved locations can earn certificates and badges to verify their technology proficiency for employers and educators.
Grow with Google
An initiative providing free training, tools, and expertise to help individuals and businesses succeed in today’s digital economy. It offers resources for job seekers, students, and small business owners to build their skills, grow their careers, or expand their companies. Through programs like Google Career Certificates, participants can learn in-demand, job-ready skills without prior experience.
