Volunteering

Help students graduate with the skills and tools they need for successful careers.

Computer CORE volunteers have helped over 7,500 adults fulfill their career aspirations, since 1999. Volunteer needs include:

  • Lead instructors to teach basic computer skills
  • Zoom Administrators
  • Pathway & Progress Advisors
  • Webinar Leaders
  • As most classes are taught online, Zoom skills are required (and we can provide guidance)
  • Prospective volunteers (in the local area) in need of computer skills can sign up as learners at www.computercore.org/classes
  • Volunteers are also needed for fundraising, event planning, and marketing/communications. If interested, please indicate these areas on the sign-up form.

Welcome to Computer CORE!

Join a dedicated volunteer team of nearly 100 people a year, many of whom have been with CORE five years or more.

Virtual Volunteer Orientations are held periodically over Zoom, and prior to each term. Please apply through the sign-up form and we will send you details about upcoming orientation sessions. Prospective volunteers are expected to have their cameras on and to participate during orientation. Please let us know if you have any questions.

“It’s a great honor to serve as an Instructor and Volunteer at Computer CORE. I am grateful to the CORE team, my Dear Departed Mom in Heaven, mentors, and everyone who has helped and supported me throughout my professional and academic journey. Thus, my commitment to volunteer, give back, pay it forward, impact, and make a difference through education.

It’s great to be a member of the CORE Team – together, we are making a difference in our community and beyond!”

Margaret Omwenga Student Orientation and Teacher Training Lead

Regarding her work as a school community liaison, May says, “I want to promote this great program among my colleagues and my supervisors. I can’t tell you how much our families are in need of this program. I am very impressed by the educational material and the courses provided.”

“In my opinion, this is one of the most fundamental and essential forms of educational that we can offer a newcomer to this country.”
